The body of a young woman who has been missing since June 24 has been found in a rough valley.
Greek police announced on Thursday (July 1) that the body of a 29-year-old French tourist who had been missing since June 24 was found near the popular Elophonici beach on the Greek island of Crete.
The teenager’s body was found in a ravine about 5km off the coast of Elophonici, police said. A forensic pathologist was expected at the scene Thursday afternoon, according to the same source.
According to local media, the Frenchman, who was on holiday in Crete, was due to fly back to France on June 28, which alarmed Greek officials who issued the desired announcement at the family’s request. The tourist rental car was spotted near Elaponici beach, which was to be reached by cattle.
Dozens of police, firefighters, rescuers and a helicopter rallied for several days to locate the young woman. The last contact with his parents was on June 24.
