The winter session cancellation discussion and the possibility of a work furlough for non-faculty staff has been tabled until the second Los Angeles Community College District Board of Trustees meeting in July.
The issue regarding the cancellation of the winter session at today's meeting is a very sensitive matter, said Mona Field, LACCD board trustee.
“I want them to come to us together," said Field. "The pain needs to be shared as equitably as possible so I move to have this item tabled with the work furlough action.”
The hope is that by the time the second meeting, July 29, comes around, something may change or other possibilities will arise so the winter session can still take place.
The meeting honored Angela J. Reddock, board trustee, whose term expires on June 30, but she will still continue to work on several different committees.
Reddock was monumental in helping to start many programs for the African American college community. She is also the Chair of the Board for the Los Angeles African American Women's Public Policy Institute.
Sylvia Scott-Hayes, board trustee, said she will be greatly missed.
