As the spring semester comes to its end, students are left with two options: have a 10-week break, or apply to take classes during summer.

Many students already know that Pierce College offers two five-week sessions of classes during the summer.

"I think summer school is a great thing," said education major Jamie Quintanilla. "It allows people to go to school for only a month and catch up on credits."

The first session is from June 9 to July 12. The last day to add a class or drop a class with a refund for Session A is June 12. The last day to drop a Session A class without a W is June 19. The last day to drop classes, with a W, is July 3.

Students have the option to either take a vacation the first half of summer and go to school the second half, or vice versa. Students can also take classes for both sessions.

"It's cool how during summer you can fulfill 12 credits," said psychology major Rachael Light. "You save a lot of time in the long run."

The second session of summer starts July 14 and ends August 16. The last day to add classes or drop classes with a refund is July 17. The last day to drop classes with a grade of W is August 8, and with a W, July 24.

Students can also take eight-week classes. These classes start June 9 and end August 2. The last day to add these classes is June 13 and the last day to drop with a grade of W is July 19.

There are hundreds of classes to choose from, including day and night classes.

One last thing: Parking is completely free.
